the key to surviving the reverse universe is someone on the other side has to want you to make it. otherwise forget it — what’s done is done. if no one cares whether you live or die, you will die.
but if you can, for even a moment, negotiate with fate, you can dodge a bad destiny, slip through the reverse universe. this causes a collapse of the previous time-structure, in an ice-nine sort of disappearing polymorphism affect.
this in turn means statistical distributions dramatically change the repeating pattern: bad fortune becomes bold fortune; but deaths of hubris dodged in this way will incur a future not worth saving.
of course, entering the reverse universe basically means one will never know if they met death and just continued on with inside a simulation, in the afterlife, in a coma, etc — to overcome this impossible junction means one has resolved the temporal crisis/chrysalis and can continue living. otherwise one will, effectively, live on as a ghost.
the role played by the HGA is unknown at this time — several combinations of entrance into the reverse universe have been reported. none have occurred without some external force attracting one to return (even if they never see it again — compare Dante & Beatrice)
